Cybersecurity
LTE and 5G private networks provide cellular benefits and enable you to keep corporate data behind a firewall. Wi-Fi is more susceptible to security breaches and hacking attacks.
Organizations address escalating requirements with private LTE and private 5G networks. These networks are dedicated, wireless networks separate from the wide-area public macro network.
LTE and 5G private networks provide cellular benefits and enable you to keep corporate data behind a firewall. Wi-Fi is more susceptible to security breaches and hacking attacks.
Automation network latency times are critical for industrial processes. Private networks allow your IT team to specify latencies to infrastructure providers. 5G latencies can reach single-digit milliseconds where time-sensitive networks (TSNs) operate.
Cellular technology is more scalable than Wi-Fi and a superior replacement for mission-critical use cases (e.g., public safety). Cellular networks are ideal for fault-tolerant operations, such as in mining and energy distribution.
Private LTE and 5G spectrum are broader than many current wireless technologies. In the U.S., the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band has 150 MHz bandwidth in the 3.5 GHz band (Band 48).
Private 5G builds on private LTE’s success to bring 5G NR’s enhanced features to private networks, including higher speeds (especially in uplink), high reliability and ultralow latency.
Why Use a Private LTE or Private 5G Network?
The growing number of connected devices drives new requirements that traditional public cellular networks can’t address. Verticals, such as utilities and agriculture, are exploring private cellular networks. These solutions will enable secure, on-premises deployments where public mobile networks are unavailable or not desired.
Enterprises are looking for wireless networks that provide reliable coverage with the possibility of seamless roaming from public to private networks.
Private LTE and 5G Network Applications
Private LTE and private 5G networks are used for specific Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services, including:
We are at the forefront of this technology. We bring decades of cellular leadership to offer comprehensive LTE and 5G enablement that extends from the modules to:
Our private LTE and 5G modules offer the right features at the right price with no technical or business compromise for your private cellular IoT device innovation.
Private LTE Networks for Utilities
The 450 MHz frequency band was introduced in Europe for use by utilities because of its propagation characteristics in the low-band spectrum. Bands in this spectrum area, including 900 and 700 MHz used in the U.S., penetrate structures well and propagate quite far. They require fewer base stations even if the signal can’t pack the same data capacity as its counterpart in mid and high bands.
The ME310G1-W2 is the world’s smallest LTE-M/NB-IoT module for the 450 MHz band. This module provides a smooth upgrade to LTE for existing CDMA 450 deployments. It’s designed for mission- and business-critical applications, including:
The ME310G1-W2 also supports LTE-M and NB-IoT enhanced coverage modes, making this module the best choice for utilities. The ME310G1-W2 also supports other European LTE bands to provide seamless roaming between private and public mobile networks.
Anterix is the largest holder of licensed spectrum in the 900 MHz band. It offers nationwide coverage throughout the contiguous United States, Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. The ME910G1 and ME310G1 modules are FCC certified for the Anterix U.S. 900 MHz networks and connect to major U.S. MNOs. The modules’ support for Anterix’s networks provides customers with flexible private IoT device and application enablement for critical infrastructures (e.g., utilities and transportation).
Puloli is an innovative provider of standards-based, private LTE solutions for critical infrastructure industries. Puloli builds and operates end-to-end private IoT networks for vital operational systems, such as electric, water, and oil and gas delivery.
The ME910G1 and ME310G1 are available for Puloli networks, enabling NB-IoT devices and applications in the upper 700 MHz A-Block frequency band. The modules are based on the Qualcomm® 9205 LTE modem and come in a small form factor with low power consumption and a value-added services software suite. These services include:
OnGo CBRS and Private LTE
Mobile operators or private companies can run private LTE and use a licensed, unlicensed or shared spectrum. In the U.S., the most mature shared spectrum is CBRS. CBRS was created to open the 3.5 GHz band to a wide range of users, including:
We were the first top-tier IoT and mobile broadband module vendor to join the OnGo Alliance (formerly known as the CBRS Alliance). The OnGo Alliance focuses on supporting the development and adoption of LTE and 5G solutions for CBRS Band 48. Our participation in the alliance drives innovation and adoption of private LTE and private 5G. We give enterprises new wireless networking options.
CBRS private LTE offers benefits that include:
CBRS, backed by U.S. regulators and government agencies, can support 4G and 5G expansion into new consumer and industrial applications. Our expertise in enterprise-grade mobile broadband and IoT solutions and experience in customer support for regulated wireless standards (e.g., cellular) make us a natural fit for the alliance.
