From Raspberry Pi to Doodling Robots: Telit Celebrates Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

February 2, 2018

Traditionally, Take Our Sons and Daughters To Work Day is Celebrated on April 26th. Due to a conflict with Florida Standardized Testing, the school district of Palm Beach County observed this holiday today, which means that Telit had some very special guests in our Boca Raton, FL office. This day provides an opportunity for young boys and girls to learn more about different occupations and help them expand their career interests. Telit sponsored special programming with many fun activities to introduce the children of Telit employees to the world of IoT and show them just how fun technology can be.

How Telit IoT University Does Take Our Sons and Daughters To Work Day

Fourteen children, ages 8 to 14, arrived at the Telit IoT University classroom this morning ready to learn and have some fun. Dale Blanton, Telit Technical Trainer, put together a program aimed at fostering an interest in technology. The program included many fun activities that allowed the children to learn while getting hands-on experience with new technologies.

The children were introduced to Raspberry Pi and got to play their favorite Python games like Tetris and Squirrel Eat Squirrel. They also had many opportunities to build and play. The children worked in teams to build a robot that doodles. They also had the opportunity to build and play with a smart robot car with line tracking module.

Helping Children Experience the Fun of Technology

Overall, the children really enjoyed working together to build some of these fun and functional robots. These projects helped them better understand the mechanics behind these technologies as well as inspire an interest in technology career paths.

Who knows? Maybe a future Telit engineer was among our group today! To learn more about Telit, check out our IoT platform and IoT modules.
