Keep Out! Prevent Unauthorized Access to Edge Device Data

November 6, 2017

Device and data security will always be a major concern for organizations, especially in enterprise environments where there are many different devices and users connecting to the same network. Telit is always looking for ways to enhance the security of IoT implementations, which is why we have recently launched the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) extension for the Telit IoT platform. Below we’ll talk a little bit more about what this feature update is and how it helps Telit customers keep their devices secure.

LDAP Extension Integrates with Active Directory

An active directory provides domain services that authenticate and authorize users and computers in any enterprise policy and role-driven environment. The active directory server enables the administration of users and groups using a single global repository in a corporate directory. The LDAP extension integrates with the active directory for user authentication and authorization to enable seamless OT and IT user administrations in any distributed organization.

Benefits of Active Directory (LDAP)

The LDAP extension helps simplify the integration of customer security with Telit IoT Platform technology by leveraging existing IT security infrastructure. The LDAP extension provides immediate IT compliance capability with any connected device in any secured enterprise environment.  With an active directory, devices managed with the Telit IoT Platform can now authenticate OT users against IT policy, determining what the user is authorized to do when they access the corporate node.  This security feature prevents unauthorized access to machine data and OT applications from the edge.
