Telit GE865-Quad GPRS module employed to provide robust connectivity when broadband Internet access is not available
São Paulo – September 08, 2014 – Telit Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) modules and services, has announced that VIAWEB, a developer of connected security and control systems, has selected Telit’s GE865-QUAD modem for its GPRS+IP communications module.
This dual-mode product is bundled with the company’s mobile device alarm monitoring system together with the VIAWEBmobile app that is used to control the alarm or to monitor events and status using mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
The application has an intuitive interface that enables remote control of the alarm system, the automation of controls such as turning lights or opening gates, and events monitoring, which includes faulty reports. The system uses GPRS communications to send data when the property doesn’t have a broadband connection or when there is a performance issue. This increases the reliability of the system and at the same time it allows the alarm system to be used in places where an Internet connection is not available.

This innovative solution comes at a time when there is a growing demand for security. The number of homes in Brazil with fixed-line security monitoring systems dropped from 47.5% in 2010 to 34.8% in 2013. This resulted in the replacement of alarms connected by telephone lines with wireless GPRS systems that are easy to install and that provide additional security, e.g. remote monitoring and control.
