Melbourne, February 15, 2016 – Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that it will power SAM3T, the latest smart modem product from Intercel Pty Ltd, a leading manufacturer and supplier of GSM, GPRS, 3G and 4G industrial modems for machine-to-machine applications. Telit‘s HE910 IoT module will integrate the smart modem delivering the required technical approvals to support 3G connectivity required in the Australian market.
The SAM3T is the third generation of the smart modem, designed with a micro-processor giving it the flexibility to adapt to multiple types of M2M/IoT applications.
With changes in the Australian market and Mobile Network Operators (MNO) announcing the shutdown of their 2G networks, there is an urgent demand to migrate current 2G products to 3G to ensure ongoing connectivity and longevity. There are tens of thousands of Intercel modems currently being utilized by Australian utility companies to remotely manage and read their meters.
”The partnership with industry expert Intercel is another indicator of how our company is poised to continue growing in the local market,” said Marcos Kinzkowski, Telit’s Vice President of Sales for Australia/ New Zealand. “Machine-to-machine technology and IoT are still relatively new concepts in many areas of Australia, but we have found that smart metering has had a particularly strong uptake in the marketplace and Intercel is one of the most experienced providers, with more than 20 years designing and manufacturing smart modems.”
The Telit IoT Portal-ready HE910 IoT module is among the smallest and most lightweight in the market, streamlining go-to-market of applications for all types of devices. The HE910 is part of the xE910 form factor family featuring a common uniform 28.2 x 28.2 x 2.2mm LGA package. It delivers data rates of 21 Mbps-down and 5.76 Mbps-up providing high-speed with ultra-low profile in the integrated solution.
