Telit maintains its position as the leader in innovation

"M2M will be one of the key technologies of the next years. We therefore assume that the market will also maintain its position even in the difficult overall economic climate. This only applies, however, for companies that have a consistent strategy and a comprehensive vision through long-term business models. Telit is undoubtedly such a company," says Oozi Cats, CEO of Telit Communications PLC. Telit offers high-end technological expertise, ongoing innovations, a complete product portfolio and a high level of service along with extremely solid and long-term customer relationships. Telit also has adequate financial resources to be able to vigorously implement its strategic goals.

The M2M market is becoming increasingly more demanding. Customer requirements in terms of module performance and flexibility are growing constantly. A comprehensive product portfolio that facilitates a seamless combination of all the relevant technologies is therefore crucial for success. Telit has spotted this trend early on and, thanks to focused R&D activities coupled with strategic acquisitions, has significantly expanded its portfolio, latterly to include the short-range product line. This makes Telit now the first supplier on the M2M market to cover all the wireless technologies available on the market with its products.

"By taking over the French short-range provider OneRF at the end of 2008, Telit took the important step from being a cellular M2M provider to being a comprehensive wireless solutions provider," says Cats. "As a result, we are able to satisfy the requirements of our customers and partners from a single source. This is what clearly sets us apart from our competitors."

Telit is now the only M2M company worldwide to offer the entire product portfolio from GSM/GPRS, UMTS/WEDGE/HSDPA and CDMA/EVDO to short-range technologies such as Wi-Fi, ZigBee, short-range RF, wireless MBus and GPS. Customers can therefore make comprehensive use of the advantages that M2M communications offers and thereby accelerate their business processes. Existing M2M architectures can be adapted and scaled with superlative flexibility – a quality that is also reflected in a rapid return on investment and an overall significantly lower total cost of ownership than with other solutions.

Rapid pace of innovation

In the global competition, Telit primarily stands by its role as the technical innovation leader. At its four research and development centres in Trieste (Italy), Sardinia (Italy), Sophia Antipolis (France) and Seoul (Korea), the company employees some of the best engineers in the industry.

The latest successful product launch was the last expansion of Telit’s GE product range: the GSM/GPRS module GE865. The innovative ball grid array (BGA) module is currently the smallest in the world, with a form factor of just 22 x 22 x 3 mm. The GE865 can therefore be embedded perfectly into high-volume M2M applications in which the module size and low energy consumption play a key role. The module is primarily used for locating people or objects in both professional and private applications.

Pioneering service model

Telit is also investing in the expansion of its service expertise. With Telit Infinita Services, the company is supplementing its existing service portfolio with an extended warranty for software and hardware. Customers benefit from the use of these services thanks to the minimal integration costs, superlative operational reliability and smooth, cost-minimised remote software updates.

"The high degree of satisfaction and long-term retention of our customers, which include the leading companies from all sectors, is the bedrock of our business model and a key distinguishing feature on the market," says Cats. "A pioneering service portfolio is essential for this. This is why we are working on its further development as intensively as on the ongoing optimisation of our products."
