Telit Cup Brazil to boost Brazilian universities IoT and M2M technology knowledge and give prize to solutions that can improve urban life
São Paulo, Brazil – September 23, 2014 – Telit Wireless Solutions, a global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) modules, services and solutions, today launched the first Telit Cup Brazil, an engineering and IT university student competition with the aim to promote innovation and business enterprise in Internet of Things technology. Groups of up to three students and a teacher will develop projects equipped with machine to machine (M2M) communication technology which enable improvements in the quality of life in cities. A panel of judges will be responsible for evaluating the best entries and the first prize will be a trip to Las Vegas (including airfare and stay at a four star hotel).
The Internet of Things is considered one of the top trends for the future, and Telit Cup Brazil wants to help university students create and develop their ideas for connected machines that can improve the quality of urban life. To participate, competing groups are required to present their solution ideas showing how they can tackle urban problems in mobility, security, and natural and human resources management. Up to 15 projects will be selected by the judging panel and will go on to the next phase, receiving business and technical help, including training, and Telit M2M modules and developer’s kit, to develop and present a working prototype.
“Our ultimate aim is to showcase the solutions students come up with to become a business which could potentially go to market and improve the daily lives in our cities”, says Ricardo Buranello, Vice President and General Manager of Telit Latin America. “The intellectual property of all the solutions developed and presented at the Telit Cup will belong only to those students and teacher responsible for creating them. Telit’s role here is the same as it is for our customers: provide all the support they need to achieve their goals”.
The first prize will be a trip to Las Vegas for members of the winning group, including airfare and four star hotel accommodations for three nights. Second place group members will receive tablets and third place will receive a Telit EVK2 developer’s kit to continue creating new IoT solutions.
