Telit and Eurocomposant sign distribution contract

M2M specialist reinforces commitment to French embedded market

Rome/Voisins-le-Bretonneux, 30 March 2010 – Telit Wireless Solutions, an international leader in wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and a subsidiary of Telit Communications PLC (AIM: TCM), and Eurocomposant, one of the key French technology distributors, have signed a distribution contract, it was announced today. In the future, Eurocomposant will distribute Telit’s M2M solutions and support the module manufacturer in further expanding its position on the French market. At the same time, Eurocomposant customers will receive better access to Telit’s forward-looking M2M technology and benefit from the manufacturer’s R&D capacities. The agreement was announced at RTS Embedded Systems, which takes place between 30 March and 1 April 2010 in Paris.

Eurocomposant is one of the leading distributors of semi-conductors, displays and embedded products and solutions in France, with a particular focus on markets such as transport and logistics, security and digital signage. The company, which has more than 20 years of market experience, already serves around 1000 original manufacturers, contract manufacturers and integrators on the French market. Telit modules will be actively distributed to its existing customers, but it will also target new customers in the embedded market in equal measure.

"Control and communication systems are playing an increasingly important role in industrial production, particularly in highly complex industries such as automotive construction, aerospace technology and information technology. France, which is Europe’s second-largest industrial nation and has an extremely diversified and competitive industrial structure, is therefore one of the world’s most important growth markets for embedded systems. In the future, we want to play a strategic role in this market. The partnership with Eurocomposant, a company which has both excellent technological expertise and an extremely wide sales network in France, is a key step in this direction," explains Felix Marchal, Vice President Global Sales at Telit Communications PLC.

Both companies are striving to expand their position on the French M2M market. M2M is one of the fastest-growing areas on the electronics market, with double-figure growth rates being forecast over the next five years.

M2M solutions for all key embedded markets

Through the distribution contract, Eurocomposant receives direct access to Telit’s M2M solutions for individual wireless architectures in embedded computing, embedded displays and embedded storage and stands to benefit from the Italian module manufacturer’s R&D resources. Julie Fichot, President and Marketing Director at Eurocomposant, therefore highlights the strategic nature of the cooperation: "Telit has a clear product strategy and currently has the most complete module range with solutions for all key wireless technologies. We can therefore offer our customers complementary products and complete solutions for the embedded market for telematics, security and other industrial applications, to name but a few. Telit also bundles competences, from development and technical support to product management, together in an integrated service approach, which will significantly benefit both us and our customers."

Deal announced at RTS Embedded Systems 2010

For both companies, this year’s RTS Embedded Systems in Paris is the ideal platform to announce the cooperation. Between 30 March and 1 April 2010, around 150 manufacturers, integrators and distributors from the embedded electronics industry are coming together to showcase new hardware and software solutions and services. Telit and Eurocomposant are exhibiting together for the first time at stand C10-D9. Eurocomposant is also showcasing a wide range of Telit modules.
