Connected World Magazine’s Value Chain Award: ASLH, Telefónica O2 and Telit honored in energy category

London, 18 July 2011 – Connected World magazine has named the 2011 winners of the Value Chain Awards. ASL Holdings, who turned to Telefónica O2 and Telit Wireless Solutions, received the highest award given in the Energy category this year. The award accredits the efforts of ASLH in the energy area and the development of innovative products for the utility sector particularly for smart metering. Telit obtained the Enabler Award for its efforts to realize the joint solution.

The Connected World magazine Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and connected devices, as well as the solution providers that made their success possible. The awards recognize the process of combining multiple technologies such as device-connectivity hardware, radio modules, network service and provisioning, as well as application software and infrastructure, to create a winning solution for the end customer.

ASLH’s solution uses GPRS M2M technology, industrial form factor SIMs and flexible contract management in order to increase scalability and reliability. At the same time, it reduces operational costs and restrictions on usage for utility metering communications in de-regulated energy supply markets. ASLH’s unique use of GPRS increases the yield of data being transmitted across the network and its reliability by 30-40% lowering the cost of the airtime provisioning element.

"We are very proud that some of the most important M2M experts recognize our efforts for the energy sector. With our help, energy suppliers will be able to continuously monitor data relating to their customers’ usage and therefore improve their products and services," says Iain Warner, Business Development Manager at ASL Holdings Ltd.

"To operate successfully in the dynamic M2M market, comprehensive support and the availability of up-to-date information are crucial. At Telit, customer service has top priority. Therefore we are very delighted that Telit won the Enabler Award for supporting ASLH," says Dominikus Hierl, CMO at Telit.

Telit offers its customers a unique form factor and family concept. The product families are tailored to different levels of integration and volumes according to application size and production scale. All modules of one family have the same size and shape, the same connectors, Ball Grid Array (BGA) or LCC castellation packaging and the same software interface so that that they can be integrated and exchanged easily into existing customer designs with only minimal adaptation. As a result, customers benefit from modules that can be used for years in their applications. They avoid additional development outlay and thus protect their previous development investments.
