Telit and AT&T to Help First Responders Understand Cellular Technology Options

Telit and AT&T to Help First Responders Understand Cellular Technology Options

Aug. 23 webinar and Oct. 24 panel feature experts from Telit and AT&T to provide insight on what to consider when it comes to the FirstNet device ecosystem

Topics include spectrum bands, 4G standard evolution and device form factors for applications such as body cameras, in-vehicle routers and traffic system control

London, September 6, 2018 – Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced its participation in two upcoming events with AT&T to help public safety agencies exploring FirstNet services better understand and implement 4G LTE technologies. The events underscore Telit and AT&T’s focus on providing the first responder community with opportunities to learn about services, devices and other solutions for mission-critical applications.

On Aug. 23 Telit and AT&T presented, “How Hardware Affects Service and Coverage for First Responder Communications,” an hour-long webinar hosted by Radio Resource Mission Critical Communications. The discussion explored how the cellular modules used in mission-critical devices determine which networks and services first responders can use and how those choices can affect coverage, flexibility and resilience.

The webinar’s presenters included Ken Bednasz, Telit, vice president of application engineering; Scott Agnew, AT&T, FirstNet program assistant vice president; and Brandon Gallion, AT&T, FirstNet program lead product marketing manager. On Oct. 24 in Tampa, Fla., Telit and AT&T will participate in “Cellular at the Center of New Generation of Emergency Responder Communications,” a panel at Smart Cities Connect Fall Conference and Expo. Bednasz and Gallion will cover the top things first responders need to know about LTE, including mission-critical enhancements such as push-to-talk, proximity-based capabilities and one-to-many broadcasting in 3GPP Releases 13, 14 and beyond. The two events expand on Telit’s long, productive relationship with AT&T, including providing LTE modules for demanding applications such as connected vehicles.

In March 2017, the First Responder Network Authority selected AT&T to build and manage FirstNet – the nationwide public safety broadband communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders.

“With LTE, first responders get a fast, reliable, proven technology, a global economy of scale and other benefits that private radio systems can’t approach, let alone match,” said Ken Bednasz, Telit, vice president of application engineering. “Through webinars, conference panels and other initiatives, AT&T and Telit are helping public safety agencies, municipalities and other organizations understand how they can benefit from LTE while making smart implementation choices.”

“The more educational opportunities we can bring to first responders, the more we can help them understand the options available to them,” said Scott Agnew, AT&T, FirstNet program assistant vice president. “It’s about empowering first responders to confidently select the next-generation tools and technologies that will help them accomplish their mission more efficiently and effectively.”
