Hi-mix and Telit Collaborate to Supply Latin America Market Growing Demand for Internet of Things Solutions

Companies partners to attend a market that is expected to be worth $44.4 billion by 2019

São Paulo – September 04, 2014 – Hi-mix, a Brazilian company that operates in the segment of EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Service) Contract Manufacturing, collaborates with Telit Wireless Solutions, a global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) modules, services and solutions, to supply a growing demand for modules and services for the Latin America M2M and Internet of Things market. Hi-mix expects a 25% year growth for the next 5 years for its electronic components manufacturing business which includes Telit’s M2M modules.

A recently published research released by Micromarket Monitor corroborates Hi-mix numbers. The research states that the Latin American IoT and M2M communication market is estimated to grow from $14.2 billion in 2013 to $44.4 billion by 2019, at a CAGR of 19.9% from 2013 to 2019.

Those numbers shows that for some time now Latam companies have adopted Internet of Things technology into their products and solutions, a trend that is on the rise. The IoT is the ability to connect people and things into the internet and enable them to transmit data without the necessity of human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

In the Latam market, the need for better infra-structure, customized enterprise solutions and a wide range of vertical industries innovations are fueling the growth of the adoption of this technology. The Latam security market, as an example, is one of the biggest adopters of IoT and the Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Sistemas Eletrônicos de Segurança (ABESE), in 2013 the electronic security sector grew 10% and generated a total of 4.6 billion BRL in Brazil.

The number of homes in Brazil with fixed-line monitoring dropped from 47.5% in 2010 to 34.8% in 2013, resulting from the replacement of alarms connected by fixed telephone lines with GPRS systems. This illustrates that people are replacing their old home alarm system with newer models that integrates the Internet of Things concept to supply a product with more functionalities that is easier to install and more secure against sabotage.
