Telit First To Receive NB-IoT Approval From IMDA In Singapore
NB-IoT module provides Asian marketplace with a broad range of applications
Industry-first certification further demonstrates company’s commitment to APAC region
London, March 19, 2018 – Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that its NE866B1-E1 NB-IoT module has received the industry’s first certification under Singapore’s new IMDA TS-IoT regulation. This certification enables Telit customers in the APAC region to design and deploy next generation products such as smart metering, smart parking, waste collection, industrial sensors, healthcare monitors, home automation and many more low data rate IoT devices. Telit’s NE866B1-E1 NB-IoT module is a next generation product that supports new features specified by 3GPP to boost IoT applications, such as the Power Saving Mode (PSM) and the extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX), which allow the devices to wake up periodically to deliver only very small amounts of data to the network, then go back to sleep for most of the time. The module also helps increase the addressable market for LTE technology to include a broad range of new applications and use cases best served with lower maximum data rate, ultra-low power, reduced complexity and cost.
Singapore’s IMDA specification defines the minimum technical requirements for IoT devices that use low power wide area technologies to operate in one of the authorized cellular frequency bands.
