Telit’s Jupiter SE880 Named One of the 2012 Hot 100 Products by UBM Tech’s EDN
London, UK – December 19, 2012 – Telit Wireless Solutions today announced that EDN has named its Jupiter SE880 ultra-compact GPS receiver as one of the "100 Hot Products of 2012". The 2012 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity.
The ultra compact Jupiter SE880 measures in at 4.7 x 4.7 mm (40mm2) packaged in a groundbreaking 3D-SiP design which is as technologically advanced in the application of RF signal conduction as it revolutionizes the concept of eco-friendly manufacturing. This leading design lowers System Noise compared to conventional technology enhancing stable navigation at very weak signals. It also reduces Cold Start TTFF more than 200 Seconds with a class leading -148dBm Sensitivity (with passive antenna). High-performance integrated SAW and 2.4GHz notch-filter nullify jammers from the most crowded spectrum and performance stability at the extremes of the operating temperature range, -40?C to +85?C, are substantially flatter compared to roll-offs in conventional technology. The SE880 also leads with support for Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) and allowing the assisted ephemeris file to be stored in low cost SPI Flash memory." 1 SV Fast Time Setting" is also supported for watch and clock applications.
"The Jupiter SE880 is a tribute to our engineering teams. It is the first that a complex RF product design is able to achieve higher sensitivity than the silicon it is based on. We are confident that this product’s truly stellar features will make the make-versus-buy decision for a GPS receiver, an easy one for engineers and integrators everywhere." said Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer at Telit Wireless Solutions.
"It’s always a fun and enlightening challenge for the EDN editors to select the year’s Hot 100 products, which has been an annual tradition at EDN since 1993. This year’s selection not only reflects some technology trends that have been in place for a while, but also highlights some new trends that are just emerging, as well as a unique product or two that is in a class of its own," said Rich Pell, Executive and Chief Technical Editor, EDN.
