On October 17th, Cyril Zeller, senior sales director of global telematics segment at Telit delivered a speech at the "Intelligent Automotive Conference 2012" entitled "The New Connected Vehicle Trend in Europe: Bundling Technologies and Services to Catch Opportunities in Usage Based Insurance". Zeller discussed the status of insurance telematics globally and the opportunities in UBI markets in different regions. Zeller also reviewed how Telit plans to help different verticals and regions benefit from improved satellite navigation accuracy with the new multi-constellation (GPS, GLONASS, and Compass) and cellular technologies which also ensure faster communication speeds and greater device sensitivity.
Insurance Telematics is growing in all countries that have already adopted telematics solutions. ABI Research forecasts the number of insurance telematics users in Europe will grow to 44 million in 2017.
