I’m currently using the evaluation board for SE868-A. I’ve run into a message send from SE868-A which I cannot find the meaning of. The message I receive is: $PTWS,ANT,STATUS,VAL,SHORT,0*5A It occurs after I’ve written $PMTK161,0*28 to the module in order to set it into standby mode and then $PMTK161,1*28 to start it again. It keeps sending this message every 1 sec.
Does anyone know the meaning of this type of message?
Best regards,
Nils

Hello Nils,
The PTWS,ANT,STATUS is a Telit Wireless Solutions proprietary message that outputs the resulting of ANTENNA SENSE feature. In this particular case, module’s firmware is reporting the detection of a short circuit.
If you have implemented the ANTENNA SENSING circuit in your board I suggest checking wiring/connector, otherwise it means that you’ve put the pin 24 JRST/GIO11 in pull-down and you have to desolder a resistor.
I’m attaching to this answer the Sample circuit that you can implement to take advantage of ANTENNA SENSE feature, GPIO11 corresponds to pin 24 whereas GPIO8 corresponds to pin 14. Let me know if you need further information regarding ANTENNA SENSE feature.

Sorry for the late reply, but thank you very much for your answer, Simone.
I haven’t implemented an antenna sensing circuit, nor do I believe that I’ve done anything to put pin 24 in pull-down. However I would like to get some more information about the Antenna sense feature if possible.
Best regards,
Nils
Hello Nils,
The antenna sense feature notifies the user when either an open-circuit or short-circuit condition occurs on the active antenna connection. It can also provide for protection against a persistent short-circuit condition.
The feature is available on modules with an external antenna. It seems you are using a SE868-A, so the feature is not available.
However, I verified the behavior you reported. It is not supposed to work like that, since in the EVK pin 24 is floating, so the $PTWS,ANT,STATUS,VAL,SHORT,0 message should not be output. I will investigate further on this behavior, and will keep you posted.
Kind regards,
Federica Cara
