GE910 PPP (MS-CHAP) Connection fails

  1. Hi,

I am trying to establish a PPP connection with our device through GE910-QUAD (rev 13.00.004, selint =2) to provider.

The monitoring of UART after the “ATDT*99***1#” and “CONNECT” (communication “translated” from HDLC to LCP data):

    #device – conf.req.
    C0 21 01 00 00 0E 02 06 00 00 00 00 07 02 08 02

    (originally: 7E FF 7D 23 C0 21 7D 21 7D 20 7D 20 7D 2E 7D 22 7D 26 7D 20 7D 20 7D 20 7D 20 7D 27 7D 22 7D 28 7D 22 DD 31 7E)

    #net – conf.ack.
    C0 21 02 00 00 0E 02 06 00 00 00 00 07 02 08 02
    #net – conf.request for PAP with magic number 3B D4 20 00

    #device – NAK for PAP – change to C2 23 81 (MSCHAP2)
    C0 21 03 01 00 09 03 05 C2 23 81
    #net – Terminate-req.
    C0 21 05 02 00 0A 00 00 00 00 00 00
    #device – Terminate-ack.

    “NO CARRIER” follows.

If I change the connection option for GE910 to PAP the connection succeeds.

G30 and HE910 made in the same environment with the same options the successfull connection.

The monitoring for G30 (and HE910) looks like:

#for G30 and HE910 same except magic number
    #device – conf.request
    C0 21 01 00 00 0E 02 06 00 00 00 00 07 02 08 02
    #net – conf.request for PAP with magic number “A3 F2 A2 EF”
    C0 21 01 01 00 18 02 06 00 00 00 00 03 04 C0 23 05 06 A3 F2 A2 EF 07 02 08 02
    #device – NAK for PAP – change to “C2 23 81” (MSCHAP2)
    C0 21 03 01 00 09 03 05 C2 23 81
    #net – conf.ack
    C0 21 02 00 00 0E 02 06 00 00 00 00 07 02 08 02
    #net – conf.req with magic number “A3 F2 A2 EF”
    C0 21 01 02 00 14 02 06 00 00 00 00 05 06 A3 F2 A2 EF 07 02 08 02
    #device – conf.ack
    C0 21 02 02 00 14 02 06 00 00 00 00 05 06 A3 F2 A2 EF 07 02 08 02

    Next communication step follows successfully.

Should not the modem be transparent for that communication? Is there something that happens behind UART communication between the modem and provider?

    Would appreciate any idea. Thanks.
