Recommended procedures for “connecting & disconnecting”

  1. First off, I know I’m not using the right terminology. By "connect" and "disconnect", I think I mean registering & attaching, and unregistering & unattaching. What I can’t find (anywhere!) is the correct procedure for getting a GC864 ready to FTP some data. Our FTP is actually working, but I inherited this code and I want to make sure that what happens before and after the FTP connection is correct.

Can someone show me the AT command list that would get me to the point where I can open an FTP connection, and then the AT command list that would return the radio to the original "disconnected" (unregistered & unattached) state? Or point me to a tutorial, manual, etc that I haven’t been able to find via Google?

While I’m at it: how did you guys learn about these modems? I can’t even find definitions for the terminology that’s used!

    Thanks!

    1. Well Telit wrote "Telit Modules Software User Guide" and "IP Easy User Guide" to cover details of modules implementations; for general networking, GSM/GPRS/3G, TCP/IP, there is plenty of documentation on the Internet.

      Have fun reading and experimenting!

That’s the problem! These docs focus on the "details" of the commands, not how to string them into a procedure to connect & disconnect to an MVNO. From what I’ve seen, there are several ways to do this (thanks to the amazing array of AT commands), but no where is it described why you would do one way over another. I’m a total newcomer to GSM modems and I’m disappointed in the lack of good documentation and overwhelmed by the details of your docs. I can’t even find a good glossary to start to figure out all the terminology and ask intelligent questions!

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to experiment because we already have systems in customers hands.

        Guess I’ll keep looking…
