#NTP – Network Time doesn’t work while CMUX is activated

  1. Hello,

i’m facing a problem with AT#NTP command: i can see that it doesn’t work while the CMUX is activated.

In particular I get the following response when i issue the at command:

    at#ntp=”ntp1.inrim.it”,123,1,2,0
    ERROR

SRING: 2,48,…(series of not printable bytes)

Of course, the internal Telit RTC clock is not updated.

If CMUX is not activated the NTP sync works.

    Module: GL865-DUAL-V3

    Fw Version: 16.01.151

Thanks in advance for your support

      Dear Ivan,

I’m trying to reproduce the same error but I cannot see any particular issue with CMUX enable.

I tried sending the AT#NTP on all the 3 virtual ports.

      AT+CGMR
      16.01.151

      OK
      AT#NTP=”ntp1.inrim.it”,123,1,2,0

      #NTP: 15/07/06,15:30:48
      OK

Please set AT+CMEE=2 and repeat the test.

Thanks Andrea for the fast reply.

        I just tried with AT+CMEE = 2, here what i get:

        AT#NTP=”ntp1.inrim.it”,123,1,2,0
        +CME ERROR: tx error

        SRING: 2,48,$ëCTDÙE$—ðã-ÙE$ W0NÙE$ W›Ç

        The context is open.

        Any idea?

          Hi,

          here again with a news:

i flashed again the latest fw and at#ntp command works, with or without cmux.

          What could it happen?

I’ll continue to “stress” the module wiht frequent ntp requests in order to check whether the issue would appear again.

          Ivan

          1. Hi Ivan,

do you know if, when the “tx error” issue was present it was possible to open other sockets and send data?

Usually “tx error”  is a temporary error that means that in that moment the module can’t send more data, because the buffer is full.

          2. I am also facing this issue on an UL865-EUD:

            AT#SELINT=2

            OK
            AT+CMEE=2

            OK
            at#ntp="ntp1.inrim.it",123,1,2,4

            ERROR
            AT#ping="www.google.se"

            #PING: 01,"62.119.230.231",18,59
            #PING: 02,"62.119.230.231",0,59
            #PING: 03,"62.119.230.231",1,59
            #PING: 04,"62.119.230.231",1,59

            OK

            Module firmware version is 12.00.614.

          3. Hi Marco, please do not get confused between GL865 and UL865.

#NTP is available on GL865 (V2) since 10.00.xx6 and then implemented on GL865 V3 from 16.00.152. It works since few years

#NTP on UL865 is new and implemented on the latest 12.00.xx7 a couple of months ago
