Hello,
we are some problems with registration of GE863-GPS module, when need registration in roaming
1. Network Operators use stored into SIM memory "list of preferred network operator codes". GSM engine have to read this list and make registration in some of these operators.
2. in our device we use SIM cards with hole list of preferred operators / as network codes/
We use "AT+COPS=0" – automatic registration process, but GSM module still do not use preferred list /
Is there some special procedure to tell GSM engine to use preffered list of operators stored into SIM card?
What is your module firmware and what says AT+CPLS?
Do a network survey, is your preferred one available?
Manual registration in this preferred network succeeds?

Hi Cosmin,
our device response is:
AT+CGMR 07.03.701
AT+CPLS? ERROR
AT+CPLS=? ERROR
I think that this command NOT implement in GE863-GPS
Here is stored list in SIM card:
We read list by
AT+CPOL?
+CPOL: 1,2,"20201"
+CPOL: 2,2,"22603"
+CPOL: 3,2,"27601"
+CPOL: 4,2,"29401"
+CPOL: 5,2,"21901"
+CPOL: 6,2,"26201"
+CPOL: 7,2,"23203"
+CPOL: 8,2,"23430"
OK
any suggestions?
Best regards Veselin Nakov
Indeed +CPLS is available only in modules with 10.x firmware. What about for the rest?
Do a network survey, is your preferred one available, good signal?
Manual registration in this preferred network succeeds?
Hi Cosmin,
from many months we try to resolve problems for module registration in roaming.
First we ask Network Operators for preferred network – white list. They give us.
Then we try to tell module USE Network "xxxxx" by at command AT+COPS=4,2,"xxxxx" – "xxxxx’ for example "23203" – code of T-Mobile Austria. This we done by SMS to the our device. It send AT cmd. to the GE863-GPS module.
If the registration is success – no problems, but if the selected network reject module registration and still present in the terrain – whole device / GSM module/ goto unaccessible state until "Lost this network" => until vehicle with mounted our device move to other country. Only in this case module return to automatically searching network. /e.q. AT+COPS=0/
Beat regards

Hi Veselin,
this is how the module work:
At any time the user may request the MS to initiate reselection and registration onto an available PLMN, according to the following procedures, dependent upon the operating mode. A) Automatic Network Selection Mode The MS selects and attempts registration on PLMNs, if available and allowable, in all of its bands of operation in accordance with the following order: i) HPLMN; ii) PLMNs contained in the "PLMN Selector" data field in the SIM (in priority order) excluding the previously selected PLMN; iii) Other PLMNs with the received signal level above -85 dBm in random order excluding the previously selected PLMN; iv) Any other PLMNs, excluding the previously selected PLMN in order of decreasing signal strength or, alternatively, the previously selected PLMN may be chosen ignoring its signal strength; v) The previously selected PLMN. The previously selected PLMN is the PLMN which the MS has selected prior to the start of the user reselection procedure
So what is the behavior of the module, you noticed when AT+COPS=0 is selected? Are preferred network not chosen (i.e. in Austria 23203, 23430) ?
