HE-910 TR50 Functions

  1. From the Devicewise portal I can execute remote commands on my HE-910 and get back data like the mobile network, signal strength, etc. This makes me think that the HE-910 is constantly conected to the MQTT message broker and has subscribed to some messages that allow it receive and execute TR50 commands. Are the TR50 commands that the HE-910 family are able to execute documented somewhere and where can I obtain that documentation.

    Thanks.

      1. Cosmo,

        These documents show me:

        • A general description of the TR50 protocol.
        • A desciption of the TR50 functions supported by the Devicewise portal.
        • The AT commands to configure the HE910 to support MQTT/TR50/Devicewise.

But they don’t tell me what I want to know which is what TR50 functions can be executed on the HE910 directly, i.e. not via the Devicewise portal.

        Thanks.

          1. Cosmo,

It’s hard to explain what I am talking about but I will try again. The AT#DWEN command allows the Devicewise server to execute AT commands on the xE910. Am I correct in assuming that the server communicates with the xE910 via TR50 over MQTT to execute the AT commands. If so then there must be a TR50 function for executing AT commands on the xE910. Is there documentation for this TR50 command and any other TR50 function available on the xE910 ?

            Thanks.

          2. So you want to use the remote AT facility not from devicewise portal but in another way??

PS: while Cosmo is a nice name mine is Cosmin actually.

          3. Cosmin,

Sorry I mispelled your name. Yes the application I am working on doesn’t allow for the use of the Devicewise or other cloud platform so we will be using an in house MQTT broker and TR50 stack.

            Regards.

… nevertheless Cosmo is the root origin of my name 🙂

If you want to use the AT#DWEN remote AT feature with your own MQTT server I suppose you need to ask for a change request/custom firmware via your Telit vendor/representative.

Howevere, if you can use/have the module run a small Appzone application I already have a MQTT client library developed and such remote AT exmple already written.

          5. Cosmin,

That sounds very promising. Would you be able to provide some more information or a link to your application ?

            Thanks.

            Patrick

          6. Yes of course, make a request for this application via TS, it will finally arrive probably to me with a download aproved, hopefully (ts-emea@telit.com). Please keep me in the loop with this.

          7. Cosmin,

I have logged a support case and mentioned your name so hopefully this will get to you and we can make some progress.

            Regards.
