Jupiter32 intermittent output

  1. The attached file shows the output from a Jupiter32 where most data frames show that no satellites are visable and then one frame has 12 satellites. What is causing this?

      Hi,

I have analyzed the log file attached and it seems that you are running your tests in a location poorly covered by GPS signal. In fact in the frame with 12 satellites it can be seen that only one satellite (the one that the module was starting to acquire) have a CN0 with a valid value.

Where are you doing your tests? Are you in a building or in open-sky?

Please answer to this message on TS-EMEA, so we can track better this issue.

      1. Unfortunately I don’t know what TS-EMEA is so can’t respond to that.

The antenna is outdoors and belongs to one of our customers. Can I assume then if there is no signal available no satellite data is included even if this was available previously?

Your assumption about the behaviour of this module is correct.

          From the attached log:

          $GPGSV,3,1,12,18,90,179,28,24,56,050,,22,52,311,,14,33,280,*76
          $GPGSV,3,2,12,12,28,119,,21,26,201,,15,23,075,,25,15,157,*78
          $GPGSV,3,3,12,04,,328,,31,,219,,19,-5,296,,11,-8,334,*73

The GPS module successfully acquired only the signal send by the satellite 18 with a carrier to noise ratio of 28 dbHz, it seems that there are problems in the RF path from the antenna to the module.

Does this module always give you this kind of output?

Does your customer have other modules working in the same scenario?
