I have a problem with
GL865 dual. « Registration denied(+creg 0,3) ». I think that antenna is cause this problem.
I saw that GL865 antenna pin(pin 34) is shortcut with GND.
Could you help for this please. Is it true?
Thank you very much.
Hi Irfan,
Of course antenna pin should not be shorted to ground, is this with your own placement of module on board or a Telit EVK module interface board? Check also the other means to check the signal, AT+CSQ, AT#MONI.
This is my own placement of module on board. This is my first application with telit.
I attached my circuit and file (AT command result from rsterm)
Thank you very much.
Looks like you have enough signal from TR ARIA (Avea); is that SIM working in a cell phone?
Yes, sim card is working in a cell phone.
SIM connections problems?
AT#SIMDET?
#SIMDET: 1,0
Set AT#QSS=2 maybe you’ll get more info about what is happening.
Is your SIM holder put to ground on the corresponding pin, I see c5 has a label GND but not connected to the circuit ground? Double check this.
I checked conneciton and it is true.
I dont understand but know I took +creg 0,1. Maybe that I soldered sim holders pin again. at attached file thare is AT commands result.
IS -91 dBm weak signal? or is it normal
-91 dbm is worse that -73 dbm, but still usable. -105, -110 dbm is a minimum strength needed for at least GSM signaling get to work.
Thanks for your answers.
I think my antenna have a problem becouse shortcut to GND….
I tried to sent SMS but I got +CMS error 331.
Could you say that is it because weak signal.
I attached rsterm screen.
Again thanks for your concern.
Check error messages, 331 is "no network service", so might be problems with intermittent / insufficient signal. Do other services work, for example dialing?
I tried and said that "can not be reached at the moment".
Then I suppose you need to carefully check your radio path …
I have 2 GL865 module and both of thems pin 34(antenna) shortcut to GND.
I read R<1 ohm. So I will change third one and try again. Could anyone confirm that pin 34(antenna) and GND (pins32,33, 35) not had to be shortcut?
Thankyou.
Hi again,
Could anyone say that I had to design a antenna detection circuit for GL865 Dual?
What for Irfan? With a good normal RF circuit dedicated AT commands should be enough to detect good network conditions.
Hi Cosmin,
I have still the same problem. I am taking CREG 1,3. I change the module, I soldered the new atenna to direct pin 34. I tried again. But not work.
Please Help. Thanks.
Please repeat and report signal measurements, AT#MONI, AT#CSURV. Try the SIM in a phone, try ianother SIM in module.
Hi Cosmin,
I attached the file.
I want to state that;
module is new,
antenna is new, and soldered direct pin 34.(I cut the socket and soldered cable to pin 34, soldered shield to GND)
sim holder is soldered again and checked twice.
Sim is working in phone.
I send to module

simin pin doesn’t use so I set simincfg: 0. (– no GPIO pin is selected (default value)) .
I set simdet: 1 ( – ignore SIMIN pin and simulate the status ‘SIM Inserted’) .
This configuration is true for GL865 dual?

Dear Irfan,
which is the SIM operator?
Please write me the AT+CIMI response
Hi.
I use TR TELSIM sim operator. Turkey operator.
AT+CIMI
286020553837409
OK
Thanks.
it seems like RX part is ok because the module is able to receive GSM channels but it cannot transmit anything on TX channel. Do you have anything like a GSM tester or spectrum analyzer that can be used to test the TX part?
Can you check the GPIO4 setting with at#gpio=4,2 and AT+COPS is set to 0 ?
Hi, I dont have a tester or analyzer. I checked that commands and below the reseults. But still have problem. I do not know what must I do?
The GPIO4 was set to alternate mode (2) (RF Transmission Control) and pin set high (1) blocking the RF in TX.
Did you set GPIO4 in this way? AT#GPIO=4,0,2 ?
Please set GPIO4 to default value AT#GPIO=4,0,3 and test again the module
Dear Andrea and Cosmin,
Please tolerance my amateurish. I am working first time with Telit modules. Altought I encounter easy problem but not solve very easy. Thanks for your concern and understanding again.
I am decisive to work module.
I understood your last post and checked it. I set gpio_4 to general purpose IO and it’s last status shown at below codes.
at#gpio=4,2
#GPIO: 1,0
OK
Now, there isnt any corruption for TX transmission. After this configuration I checked the module. But the module was not work.
analysing the AT#CSURV results, it seems that only 20802 "Orange France" is available in that place.
Does the cellphone get registered to Orange or any other operator? Is is capable to do voice calls and GPRS connections?
Hi Andrea,
I have mode some progress. I can now get
+CREG: 0,5
.. by fitting a different UK sim card. This one is O2, payg
Any ideas? I have a query with vodafone uk about this, but no reply yet.
+CREG: 0,5 is correct, means registered in roaming.
+CREG: 0,5 is correct, means registered in roaming.
Thanks, but do you have any idea why the vodafone sims won’t register?
it depends if Vodafone UK is a GSM roaming partner of Orange or not.
By the way it seems you are in a very poor coverage area.
Only 2 ch available, 1 usable:
arfcn: 9 rxLev: -86
arfcn: 12 bsic: 0 rxLev: -103
If arfcn 9 is full no registration is possible to other channel.
Can you check the antenna connection? Put the antenna outside or find a better place for the test?
Well suddenly it started working. I had queried vodafone, and I guess they fixed something with rgeistration. !!
Hi,
My sim operator ‘s old name is Telsim. Vodafone bought it and it is vodafone now in Turkey.
The other sim cars old operator name is Aria. It’s new name is AVEA in turkey. In #moni ‘s answer the old name is seeming.
could it be the problem?
Dear Cosmin,
Could you say that what are belows configuration had to be please?
I am using GL865 dual.

thanks.
Hello Guys!
I am experiencing a strange behavior using a GL865-dual V3. I’m trying to obtain the IMSI of the Sim card connected to the module, but it responses with « operation not allowed ». Is this a bug in the firmware or am I forgetting some command previously? Can the operator prevent me from reading this information.
Here is an excerpt of my communication with the module:
