I am having a problem with a GC864-QUAD V2 that fails to register on the network in England with 1 of 2 Vodafone Ireland Pay and Go SIMs. Both SIMs are activated and unlocked and have sufficient credit, and both can make calls and send SMS when used in a Nokia 6233 phone, yet only 1 of them registers when used with the GC864.
This is the initialisation sequence that I use along with the responses from the module:
At this point I poll the module to check on the registration status.
With the SIM that works I get several:
Followed eventually by:
which indicates that the module has successfully registered and is roaming. However, with the SIM that doesn’t work I eventually get:
which indicates that the device is not registered and is currently not searching for a new operator to register with. I then do the following to determine the cause of the error:
which means “IMSI UNKNOWN IN HLR”.
I have tried manually selecting the operator and manually selecting GSM bands and restarting the registration process but nothing works.
I would appreciate any help.
Please try to issue the command at#enausim with the “enable” parameter different from 0 to see if somthing changes
Thanks for your response Luca.
After sending the ENAUSIM command I cycled the power to the module and then resent my initialisation sequence as normal.
With AT#ENAUSIM=1 and AT#ENAUSIM=2 I get a +CME ERROR: 13 in response to the AT+CPIN? command and the registration fails as before.
When I try AT#ENAUSIM=3, the response to the command is +CME ERROR: 4.
please issue the following commands with the trouble SIM inside:
and please tell me which network name is showed with Nokia 6233 with the same SIM where you are able to send SMS
Here are the responses to the commands you suggested with the SIM that fails in the GC864:
+COPS: (2,”vodafone UK”,,”23415″),(1,”T-Mobile UK”,,”23430″),(1,”O2 – UK”,,”23410″),,(0-4),(0,2)
With the same SIM in the Nokia 6233, the display shows “vodafone UK”. In the phone options, the operator selection is set to automatic.
I forgot to mention that I tried updating the module to version 10.01.051 but the result was the same.
Please, try again this test:
at+cops=1,2,”23415″ and tell me what is the message. then we will try another strategy if you will get a fail result in terms of registration
This is the response to the command you suggested:
but the SIM still fails to register.
For your information, the resonse to:
+COPS: 0,0,”vodafone UK”
regardless of whether I use
