Certifications
Regulatory
All radio communication products are subject to regulatory compliance certification. These regulations accompanying certification vary from region to region and type of product. The following are certifications applicable to Telit’s current portfolio of products:

ANATEL - The national telecommunications agency in Brazil (Anatel) is an independent organ of the Brazilian ministry of communications established in 1997. The agency is directly responsible for regulating interstate and international telecommunications by radio, wire, satellite and cable. Anatel's jurisdiction covers the entire country of Brazil. |

CE - A European consumer protection program designed to certify that products have met health, safety, and environmental requirements assuring consumer safety. Products must meet CE marking requirements in order to be marketed in Europe. Specifically, compliance with R&TTE, the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive is required for all products in the Telit portfolio. R&TTE was created by the European Union in 1999, and establishes requirements with which Radio and Telecommunications equipment and devices must comply to be sold in Europe. R&TTE product compliance certification is performed by BABT, the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications, which was created in 1982 to regulate telecommunications. In May 1992, BABT issued the first GSM approval and the agency is directly responsible to for certification and regulatory services for the European radio, telecom and IT sectors. |

COFETEL - The federal telecommunications commission in Mexico (COFETEL) is an independent organ of the Mexican secretary of communication and transport established in 1995. The agency is directly responsible for regulating interstate and international telecommunications by radio, wire, satellite and cable. COFETEL's jurisdiction covers the entire country of Mexico. |

CRTC - The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is an independent public authority established in 1968. The CRTC regulates the Canadian broadcasting system, as well as telecommunications common carriers and service providers under federal jurisdiction. |

DGT - The Directorate General of Telecommunications (DGT), Taiwan's telecommunications industry regulatory agency. |

FCC - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions. |

GCF - The Global Certification Forum (GCF) runs an independent certification program to ensure global interoperability. The program's focus is on the interoperability of 2G and 3G mobile wireless devices. |

IC - The Certification and Engineering Bureau of Industrie Canada which provides certification services for both radio and terminal equipment in Canada. Compliance testing for these devices is performed by private sector laboratories. |

MIC - MIC: Certification for information and communication equipment is implemented based on Article 33 of the "Telecommunications Basic Act" and Article 46 and 57 of the "Radio Waves Act." Equipment specified in Article 3 of the "Regulation for Certification of Information and Communication Equipment", must be certified and affixed with the required label in order to manufacture, import or sell. |

NOM - The Normas Oficiales Mexicanas (NOM) Mark is a mandatory consumer protection program requiring that certain products such as cellular devices be certified before they can be sold in Mexico. |

PTCRB - The purpose of the PTCRB is to provide the framework within which GSM Mobile Equipment (ME) Type Certification can take place for members of the PTCRB. This includes, but is not limited to, determination of the test specifications and methods to implement the Type Certification process for GSM Mobile Equipment. This group will also be responsible to generate input regarding testing of Mobile Stations to standards development organizations. |

SRRC - State Radio Regulation Committee (SRRC) of China under the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) is China's regulatory agency for radio and wireless products. |

Operators & Service Providers
Radio communication products, particularly those using licensed spectrum such as cellular, may be subject to certification and approval for activation by the operator or service provider. These requirements vary on a regional and service provider basis. Note: Certifications are sought on a product by product basis as each is introduced into the various regional markets. Most operators globally do not require network specific certifications beyond regulatory compliance. The above list includes operators that have required certifications at one or more of their regional operations.
