Linux on GE863-PRO³
As a response to the increasing need for more computing power demands in the M2M segment, Telit included in its portfolio the GE863-PRO³, available with embedded Linux software. It provides a completely new approach for m2m application development based on the embedded ARM9.
This provides significant benefits for the development and production of complex solutions making it easier and more cost-effective for Telit customers to incorporate the GE863-PRO³ into the design of their product. Interfaces such as SPI, IIC, SD/MMC and USB enable connectivity to different external peripherals such as camera, keyboard, display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee or GPS, for which Telit offers various reference designs and dedicated Linux libraries
The Linux OS is fully optimized to run at its best on the PRO³ architecture and some of its key distinguishing features include:
- Fast time to market
- Telit Software Development Kit (IDE based on Eclipse)
- Debug & Download on the target
- Dedicated Telit libraries for:
- GSM
- Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi
- additional packages available on clients request
- Large variety of subsystems and peripherals already supported by Linux
- Flexibility
- Full control over the source code (easy to be integrated with the proprietary code)
- Simplicity of development for new drivers and/or libraries
- High performance
- Code optimisation for specific platforms and applications
