Benefits of m2m
m2m is a rapidly growing industry and has already been established in considerable areas of day-to-day lives. There are already countless applications that are based on machine-to-machine communication. Low-cost m2m modules will enable a wide range of new networked devices and business models. These include applications in the fields of telematics, fleet management and the automatic remote reading of data (automated meter reading, or AMR), security technologies, point-of-sale terminals or in healthcare. m2m is fueling innovation enabling vast applications that improve:
• Personal safety through ubiquitous tracking and surveillance
• Business results through optimized asset utilization
• Processes & productivity through direct communication between remote machines & central management systems
• Performance and reduced costs through the utilization of real-time information
According to the international research firm Gartner, m2m is one of the Top10 mobile technologies to watch. Many network service providers increased their commitment to m2m in 2009, so a good range of both national and multinational m2m service options will be available in growing markets during the next years.
