Functionalities

All products in Telit's portfolio are based on a common software platform that includes extended functionalities that are available to system integrators at no additional cost. Telit ensures compatibility between products maintaining the same core features over different product generations while continuously improving the functionality by adding new features to the global software package.

• IP Easy® allows customers to use GPRS and Internet packet service through the embedded TCP/IP stack. Some of the included features are static and dynamic IP allocation, PPP, UDP, FTP client, DNS query protocol, and a built-in firewall. Multi-socket is also part of the Telit IP Easy® feature and allows the user to have two activated contexts, from one to six socket connections, and simultaneous FTP client and e-mail client service.
• A dedicated set of AT Commands has been developed for scanning (Easy Frequency Scan®) the GSM channels and reporting available parameters. This feature allows a detailed examination of the GSM network coverage without inserting a SIM card and gives the possibility to select the provider with the best field strength, the most channels or base transceiver stations, and also optimizes antenna position.
• Telit also offers modules that include an extension of the Python^TM language, which allows scripts to be run through a dedicated set of AT Commands targeted toward applications usually handled by a microcontroller. With Easy Script®, applications can manage I/O pins, communicate to peripherals through serial ports, and transfer data over the cellular network without the need of an external processor. Easy Script® solution with Python^TM is a complete software platform that saves time and reduces costs for system developers as the module requires no additional investment in hardware, license free, and dependence on other manufacturer's technology.

 

• A unique jamming detection and report feature allows the unit to detect the presence of an interruption device such as a communication jammer that interferes with GSM radio signals. The "jammed" status can be reported as an unsolicited message through the AT Command interface on the GPIO/serial connection. This feature increases security in applications where it is the highest priority.

• Premium FOTA Management provides an industry standard over-the-air update capability as a cost-effective, quick, secure, and reliable solution. Therefore, Telit is able to update its products by transmitting only a delta file, which represents the difference between one firmware version and another. This service eliminates the need for the device to be upgraded in the field, reduces time and cost associated with field maintenance, and is a necessary requirement for customers that have products with long lifecycles.

• RUN AT Command allows users to run any AT Command via SMS or TCP. The remote control of different events on the application side is drastically simplified by using text messages from any phone for both activation commands and receiving replies. Some of the major applications are related to monitoring of GPIOs, roaming, battery level, voltage, or module state with the possibility to send alerts in the event that conditions change.
